Description: SS Normandie was a French ocean liner built in the 1930s. It was considered one of the most luxurious and technologically advanced ships of its time. In 1942, during World War II, the Normandie was being converted into a troopship for the U.S. government when a fire broke out on board. The ship was eventually scrapped due to the extensive damage, she was then sold as scrap.
